As Jim would say, “We do too much”. But that’s ok! We definitely have several irons in the fire that keep us busy. In addition to Jim’s daily 9-5 Leanna is keeping her kitchen busy with items for our family and others. Our current projects are running our booth at the local farmers market in DeFuniak Springs, keeping up with posts on social media platforms, running this blog, and homeschooling our youngest. As you can imagine the kids alone keep us busy, but we love our time working on these other items as well.
Our local farmers market runs from March through November. After Thanksgiving it turns into a Holiday market full of all things Merry. At the farmers market you can find an assortment of baked goods made in our cottage kitchen. Some of those items include sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, an assortment of cookies, pepper jelly, focaccia, garlic cheese bread, cheesecake by the slice, and our newest addition of creme brulé. The highlights of these items get posted weekly on our social media sites. So, like and follow those sites to get the weekly menu updates.
In addition to the farmers market, we try to attend a few other events locally. The Gras Fest held each year around DeFuniak Springs historic lake yard is one event, and the other is Chautauqua Winery’s Spring and Fall Festival. The Gras Fest is usually held in January or February based on when Mardi Gras falls each year. It starts with a festival of food, vendors, and a car show. Then it ends with a family friendly parade. The Wine Festival happens twice a year. Once in late Spring and the other in Fall. Visitors to that can enjoy vendors, food trucks, and do a wine tasting from the local vineyard. We try our best to attend these each year with our spread of baked goods. Weather permitting of course since they are both outdoor events. If you are local be sure to check them out and visit our booth.
